James Andrew McCann, born January 7, 1974, is an American writer with a diverse career spanning comic books, theatre, and television. He began his professional journey working on films and music videos before joining the ABC Daytime Writer Development Program, where he contributed to the soap opera "One Life to Live." Relocating to New York City in 2004, McCann took a role at Marvel Comics, initially handling publicity and public relations, and managing press events.

McCann later transitioned back to writing for Marvel, creating original graphic novels and contributing to various comic series. He co-created the Eisner Award-winning graphic novel "Return of the Dapper Men" with artist Janet Lee. His other notable comic work includes contributions to series like "Hawkeye & Mockingbird," "Widowmaker," and adaptations such as "Marvel Zombies Christmas Carol." He has also been recognized with a Prism Award for "New Avengers: The Reunion."

James Andrew McCann's writing career commenced with work in film and music videos. A significant turning point arrived when he entered the ABC Daytime Writer Development Program. This opportunity led him to write for the ABC daytime drama "One Life to Live." Concurrently, McCann was involved in the Nashville theatre scene, co-founding the Nashville Theatre Company and serving as its Artistic Director from 2000 to 2004. He also played a key role in reviving the character Mockingbird in series like "Hawkeye & Mockingbird."

A notable achievement in McCann's career is the creator-owned graphic novel "Return of the Dapper Men," co-created with artist Janet Lee and published by Archaia Studios Press. This work garnered significant critical acclaim, receiving five Eisner Award nominations and winning the Eisner for Best Graphic Album: New. More recently, he adapted Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" into the "Marvel Zombies Christmas Carol" comic series.
