Esoteric Library ("we", "us", "the Library"), operated by Zakhar Chumak at esotericlibrary.org, respects your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights under EU GDPR and California CCPA.

1. Information We Collect

Account data (if you register): email, name, hashed password, OAuth tokens.
Reading activity: books opened, reading progress, bookmarks.
Technical data: IP address, browser type, referrer URL, device type.
Cookies: session, analytics and advertising cookies (see section 4 below).

2. How We Use Your Data

Provide access to the library and maintain your account.
Save your reading progress, bookmarks and preferences.
Send occasional email updates about new books (opt-in only).
Analyze site usage to improve the experience.
Serve relevant advertisements through Google AdSense (see section 4).
Prevent fraud, abuse and copyright violations.

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share limited data only with:

Hosting & email providers — under strict confidentiality.
Google AdSense & Google Analytics — for advertising and aggregated usage statistics (section 4).
Law enforcement — only when required by a valid court order.

4. Advertising & Third-Party Cookies

Esoteric Library displays advertisements to help keep the Library free. We use the following services:

4.1 Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense, a service provided by Google LLC, to serve advertisements on our site. As a third-party vendor, Google uses cookies (including the DoubleClick DART cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits to our website or other websites.

Google may use your IP address, browser information and site activity to deliver personalized or non-personalized ads.
You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
You may opt out of third-party vendors entirely at aboutads.info/choices or youronlinechoices.eu (EU users).

4.2 Third-Party Vendors

4.3 Your Consent

When you first visit Esoteric Library, a cookie banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies (analytics and advertising). You can change your choice at any time via our Cookie Policy page.

5. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Access — request a copy of your data.
Correction — update inaccurate information.
Deletion — request your account be erased.
Portability — export your reading history.
Opt-out — unsubscribe from emails and personalised ads at any time.
Do Not Sell (California residents) — we never sell data, but you may still request confirmation.

6. Data Retention

We keep your account data only as long as your account is active, plus 90 days after deletion for backup purposes. Advertising cookies expire according to Google's retention policies.

7. Children's Privacy

The Library is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. Google AdSense does not serve personalized ads to users under 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced on the site at least 14 days in advance.
