These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Esoteric Library (esotericlibrary.org). By accessing or using the site you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

1. The service

Esoteric Library is an editorial catalogue of 50,000+ esoteric, occult, mystical and spiritual books. Public-domain titles can be read and downloaded directly. Modern, in-copyright titles link to external retailers and lending libraries — we do not host copyrighted material.

2. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Scrape, mirror or bulk-download the site at rates that disrupt service for other users.
Use the site to distribute malware, spam or unlawful content.
Attempt to bypass security, access controls, or rate limits.
Republish editorial content (reviews, scores, curated lists) without attribution and a link back.
Frame, embed or impersonate the site in a misleading way.
Use the public-domain texts in jurisdictions where they are not actually public domain — you are responsible for verifying status under your local copyright law.

Automated access (crawlers, AI training systems) must follow our robots.txt and llms.txt.

3. Public-domain content

Books marked "Public Domain" are believed to be free for personal and commercial use under the laws of the United States and most Berne Convention countries (typically: published before 1929, or the author died over 70 years ago). Sources include Project Gutenberg, Internet Archive, Standard Ebooks, Sacred-Texts, GlobalGrey and Open Library. You are responsible for verifying status in your jurisdiction before commercial use.

4. External purchases and affiliate links

"Get this Book", "Compare Prices" and similar buttons link to third-party retailers — Amazon, Bookshop.org, AbeBooks, ThriftBooks, Better World Books, Llewellyn and others. Those purchases are governed by each retailer's terms and privacy policy. Some are affiliate links; we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. 5. Advertising

This site displays advertisements served by Google AdSense and may include partner ad networks. We do not control specific ads shown; reporting an inappropriate ad to contact@esotericlibrary.org is welcomed and we will forward it to Google. See our Cookie Policy for ad-cookie details and your opt-out options.

6. Editorial content and AI assistance

Book reviews, scores, FAQ entries and curated lists are produced by our editorial process, which uses AI drafting under human oversight. Full method is documented in our Editorial Policy. We strive for accuracy but cannot guarantee that every editorial statement is free from error. We log substantive corrections on the Corrections page.

7. DMCA / copyright complaints

If you believe content on this site infringes your copyright, send a written notice to contact@esotericlibrary.org including: (a) identification of the copyrighted work, (b) the URL of the allegedly infringing material, (c) your contact information, (d) a statement made in good faith that use is not authorised, and (e) a statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorised to act. We respond and remove genuinely infringing content within 48 hours of a valid notice. Full procedure on our DMCA page.

8. Disclaimers

Content on Esoteric Library is for educational, historical and research purposes. We make no medical, psychological, financial, legal or spiritual-advice claims. Historical texts dealing with grimoires, magic, ritual or unconventional practices are catalogued for scholarly study — we do not endorse or recommend practice. The site is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Esoteric Library and its operator(s) will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages — including loss of profit, data, goodwill or other intangible losses — arising out of or in connection with your use of (or inability to use) the site, whether based on warranty, contract, tort or any other legal theory, and whether or not we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability in any matter relating to the service is limited to the amount you have paid us in the previous twelve months (which for free users is zero).

10. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Esoteric Library and its operator(s) from any claim or demand, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the site, or your violation of any third-party rights.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access to the site (or a specific account) at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe these Terms have been breached or that termination is needed to protect the service or other users. You may stop using the site at any time. Sections 4, 8, 9, 10 and 12 survive termination.

12. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ukraine, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes that cannot be resolved informally will be submitted to the competent courts of Kyiv, Ukraine. Nothing in this section limits any mandatory consumer-protection rights you may have in your country of residence.

13. Severability

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining parts continue in full effect.

14. Changes

We may update these Terms as the site evolves. Substantive changes are noted at the top of this page and dated. Continued use after a change means acceptance of the updated Terms.
