Affiliate Disclosure
Last updated: May 24, 2026 · Required by FTC 16 CFR Part 255
1. Affiliate programmes we participate in
- Amazon Associates — 4–10% commission on qualifying purchases.
- Bookshop.org partner programme — 10%.
- AbeBooks via CJ Affiliate — 5–8%.
- ThriftBooks — 5%.
- Better World Books — 5%.
- Llewellyn Worldwide direct — 15%.
As an Amazon Associate, Esoteric Library earns from qualifying purchases.
2. How affiliate income affects (or doesn't affect) editorial
Affiliate income does not influence which books appear in the catalogue, how we score them, or what reviews say. Our catalogue is built from the most-cited esoteric works regardless of commission rate, and we routinely list books we earn nothing from.
When a book is in the public domain, we always show the free read/download options first — Project Gutenberg, Internet Archive, Sacred-Texts and similar sources — before any "buy" link. Free options are never hidden, dimmed, or pushed below the fold to favour paid options.
3. Sponsored content
We do not accept sponsored book reviews, paid placement in curated lists, or "pay-to-play" scores. If we ever do paid editorial in the future, every such item will be clearly labelled "Sponsored" at the top of the page and again on relevant link.
4. Advertising
Separately from affiliate links, this site shows ads served by Google AdSense and partner networks. We do not choose which specific ads appear on a given page; Google does, based on context and (with your consent) your interests. See our Cookie Policy for ad-cookie controls.
5. Free options always shown
Every modern-book page also shows free alternatives where available: Internet Archive lending, WorldCat library lookup, and Google Books preview. We never hide these in favour of paid retailer links.
6. Questions or concerns
If anything on this page is unclear, or you spot an affiliate link that isn't disclosed, please write to contact@esotericlibrary.org. We take disclosure seriously and respond within 48 hours.
