What gets logged here
- License corrections — when a book was wrongly classified as public domain (or wrongly classified as under copyright).
- Factual corrections — wrong year, wrong author, misattributed quote, factually inaccurate claim in a review or concept page.
- Category and tradition corrections — when a book is moved to a more accurate primary category.
- Removed content — when a page is taken down for legal, ethical, or quality reasons.
Routine typo fixes, layout changes, and minor style edits are not logged.
How to request a correction
Use the contact form with:
- The page URL (so we can find it quickly)
- A brief description of the issue
- If you have one, a source we can verify against
We aim to investigate within 48 hours. License and takedown requests get priority.
Log entries
Internal audit found ~3,500 modern openlibrary and internet_archive records had been wrongly flagged as public domain during catalog import, because the source records lacked explicit license metadata. Conservative SQL pass reclassified them to "Under copyright" — these pages now display retailer/library links instead of free downloads. If a book you know to be public domain was caught in this pass and is now incorrectly marked as copyright, please tell us.
The "Memorable Quotes" section on every book page now visibly distinguishes Direct passages (in quotation marks, attributed to the author) from Key Ideas (without quotation marks, labeled as editorial paraphrase). Previously both rendered identically, which risked presenting paraphrased concepts as if they were the author's exact words.
Every editorial review on the site now carries an "AI-assisted" disclosure linking to the editorial policy page. Critic signatures (Sophia Crane, Cassian Rothmann, Ophelia Vance, etc.) are now clearly labeled as editorial personas — they signal which lens a review takes, not separate employed reviewers.
Removed inconsistent and inflated catalog counts ("All 243 Masters", "243 Collections") that did not match real data. Footer and navigation links now use honest, non-numeric phrasing until real counts catch up.
