Jay Anson was an American author known for 'The Amityville Horror,' a book presented as a true account of paranormal events.
Jay Anson, born in 1921 and passing away in 1980, was an American writer primarily recognized for his 1977 novel, 'The Amityville Horror.' This book achieved considerable success by presenting itself as a factual narrative detailing the alleged supernatural experiences of George and Kathleen Lutz at their Amityville, New York home. The Lutzes had sold the rights to their story to Anson, who then expanded upon and adapted their original claims for the novel.
Following the significant popularity of 'The Amityville Horror,' Anson penned another book titled '666,' which also explored themes of haunted residences. The success of his debut novel led to a film adaptation in 1979, which further highlighted the elements Anson had incorporated into the story. Anson died in 1980, a year after the film's release.
