Esther claims to channel a collective consciousness named "Abraham," adopting a different voice and accent to signify its presence. The couple's work gained significant attention after Esther appeared in the original 2006 film "The Secret," which focused on the Law of Attraction. Though their segment was removed from later editions due to a dispute with the film's creator, their teachings, rooted in New Thought principles, continued to reach a wide audience through books, lectures, and a substantial online presence.

Jerry Hicks, who passed away in 2011, had a varied career before meeting Esther, including work as a circus acrobat and musician. Their collaborative work began after Esther's channeling experiences in 1985, influenced by the Seth Material and a consultation with another channeler.
