It is Brahman in its absolute, unmanifest aspect, the undifferentiated consciousness that is the source and substratum of all that is.

The journey towards "para" is a process of shedding the veils of ignorance (avidya) and illusion (maya) that obscure our true nature. It involves turning inward, moving from the "apara," the manifest and phenomenal world, to the "para," the unmanifest and noumenal. This inward turn is not a retreat from the world but a deeper understanding of its essence. As Mircea Eliade observed in his studies of archaic religions, the sacred is often found in the juxtaposition of the mundane and the transcendent, the immanent and the transcendent. "Para" embodies this ultimate transcendence, the divine spark within the ordinary.

The pursuit of "para" is the spiritual quest for liberation (moksha), for union with the divine, for the recognition of the self (Atman) as identical with Brahman. It is the ultimate goal, the final limit of philosophical inquiry and spiritual practice. It suggests that true fulfillment lies not in the accumulation of worldly goods or the mastery of external circumstances, but in the realization of an inner immensity, a boundless consciousness that is already present, waiting to be recognized. The very notion of a "final limit" is itself paradoxical, for the absolute, by definition, has no limits. Thus, "para" invites us to contemplate the unfathomable, to seek the ground of being that lies beyond all conceptualization, and to recognize that the furthest horizon is an ever-expanding interior landscape.
