Yogi Ramacharaka

William Walker Atkinson (1862–1932) was a prolific American author, publisher, and a significant figure in the New Thought movement. Despite a challenging early career marked by a physical and mental breakdown, he found restoration through the principles of New Thought. This experience led him to collaborate with Dr. Herbert A. Parkyn, where he honed his understanding of suggestive therapeutics and metaphysical sciences.

Atkinson's literary output was extensive, with an estimated 100 books published in the latter half of his life. He is widely recognized as the author behind pseudonymous works, including those attributed to Yogi Ramacharaka. His writings, which began appearing around 1900, explored themes of mental control, psychic influence, and practical mental science, becoming foundational to the New Thought teachings. He played a key role in establishing and editing influential New Thought publications.

Atkinson also founded his own Success Circle and the Atkinson School of Mental Science, further contributing to the movement's infrastructure. His influence extended to leadership roles, including serving as a past president of the International New Thought Alliance.
