Corinne Heline, born in Atlanta, Georgia, was a prolific American author, Christian mystic, and occultist who authored 28 books. Benefiting from an early inheritance, she was able to self-publish her works. Her education included classical and religious studies, and she maintained a lifelong interest in ancient mysteries. She was married twice, her second husband being Theodore Heline, who was instrumental in publishing her writings. Heline is recognized globally within esoteric and occult circles, and is considered a pioneer in the New Age movement, notably being one of the first occult writers to use the term "New Age" in its contemporary context.

Heline's most significant work is the seven-volume "New Age Bible Interpretation" (1935–1961), which offered interpretations of ancient wisdom. She also founded the "New Age Interpreter" magazine in 1940, one of the earliest publications of its kind. Heline's spiritual and ethical convictions extended to her views on diet. She was a committed vegetarian for both ethical and spiritual reasons, arguing that consuming animal flesh was contrary to divine will and a source of illness. She actively advocated for animal protection and encouraged fellow vegetarians to persuade others of the moral and physical harms associated with eating meat. Her stance was rooted in a belief that it was not part of a divine plan for humans to consume animals, aligning her dietary choices with her broader philosophical outlook.
