Scott Westerfeld

Scott Westerfeld, born May 5, 1963, is an American author primarily recognized for his young adult fiction, most notably the Uglies and Leviathan series. His early life involved frequent moves due to his father's computer programming career, which fostered his storytelling abilities. Westerfeld graduated from Vassar College with a degree in Philosophy. He began his writing career with adult novels before transitioning to young adult literature, with works like the Midnighters trilogy and standalone novels set in New York City. He has also authored the alternate history Leviathan series and graphic novels. Westerfeld has also been credited with ghostwriting for the Goosebumps series. Several of his books have been optioned for film adaptations. He married Australian author Justine Larbalestier, and as of 2013, divided his time between Sydney and New York City.
