Nicholas Sparks

Nicholas Sparks, born December 31, 1965, is an American author, screenwriter, and film producer recognized for his numerous bestselling novels. He has published 24 novels and two nonfiction works, selling over 130 million copies globally in more than 50 languages. Many of his books, including "The Notebook," "A Walk to Remember," and "Message in a Bottle," have been adapted into successful feature films, with eleven of his novels having been made into movies. Sparks' writing career began after various jobs, and his breakthrough came with "The Notebook," which achieved significant bestseller status. He has also been recognized for his financial success, frequently appearing on lists of highest-paid authors.

Beyond his literary achievements, Sparks is actively involved in philanthropy. He has made substantial donations to educational institutions, including funding a track at New Bern High School and establishing The Epiphany School of Global Studies. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Nicholas Sparks spent his childhood in various locations across the United States before his family settled in Fair Oaks, California. He excelled academically, graduating as valedictorian of his high school class, and later attended the University of Notre Dame on a track and field scholarship. During his college years, he began writing, completing two unpublished novels. After marrying and moving to New Bern, North Carolina, Sparks held various jobs, including pharmaceutical sales, before achieving literary success. His first published work was a nonfiction book co-authored with Billy Mills, focusing on Lakota spiritual beliefs and practices, which sold well initially.

Sparks' breakthrough novel, "The Notebook," published in 1996, quickly became a New York Times bestseller, spending an extended period on the list. This success paved the way for numerous other novels, many of which have also topped bestseller lists and been adapted into films.
