The monster's name, "Gruffalo," was conceived to sound fierce and rhyme with "doesn't he know," with "Gr" evoking a sense of power and "uffal" suggesting a buffalo-like, yet more intimidating, presence. This inventive naming and adaptation process highlights her skill in crafting memorable characters and narratives for children.
