George Ouzounian, known online as Maddox, emerged in the early 2000s as a prominent internet figure. He is the creator and maintainer of "The Best Page in the Universe," a satirical humor website he launched in 1997. This platform gained significant traction, allowing him to transition from his career as a computer programmer to full-time writing. His work often features a distinctive visual style and a critical, humorous approach to various subjects.

Maddox's writing career expanded beyond his website with the publication of "The Alphabet of Manliness" in 2006, which became a New York Times bestseller. He has since authored additional books, including "I Am Better Than Your Kids" and "F*ck Whales: Petty Essays from a Brilliant Mind." Beyond writing, Maddox has explored other media, including a web series on YouTube titled "The Best Show in the Universe," and has been involved in podcasting and even acting in independent films.

Maddox's primary online platform, "The Best Page in the Universe," began as a personal homepage for his writings and evolved into a widely recognized satirical humor site. The website's design, characterized by a sparse layout and a black background with light-colored text, was a deliberate choice to reduce bandwidth costs and protest content-heavy websites. Maddox adopted the pseudonym Maddox from an anime title and often employs a pirate persona. He also uses the site to sell merchandise.

This success was followed by "I Am Better Than Your Kids" (2011) and "F*ck Whales: Petty Essays from a Brilliant Mind" (2017). Maddox has also ventured into video content, creating "The Best Show in the Universe" on YouTube, and has been involved in podcasting, notably with "The Biggest Problem in the Universe." His work has touched on themes of manliness and societal observations, presented through his characteristic humorous and often provocative lens.

In 2017, Maddox initiated a significant lawsuit alleging harassment and threats, which involved several individuals and entities. The case, which sought substantial damages, was ultimately dismissed by a judge in 2018 due to jurisdictional issues and the complaint's lack of specific evidence. Following this period, Maddox continued to produce content for his YouTube channel and began streaming on Twitch, often adopting distinct character personas like "Bananadox" and "Cowboy Ox-Mad."
