Harlan Coben, born January 4, 1962, is an American author celebrated for his mystery and thriller novels. Coben's work has achieved significant international success, with his books translated into 46 languages and selling over 90 million copies worldwide. He is the recipient of prestigious awards such as the Edgar Award, Shamus Award, and Anthony Award, being the first author to earn all three distinctions.

Before his writing career, Coben studied political science at Amherst College and worked in the travel industry. He realized his aspiration to write during his senior year of college. His debut novel, 'Play Dead', a romantic suspense thriller, was published in 1990. He later gained recognition for his series featuring Myron Bolitar, a sports agent who investigates crimes. Coben has also penned numerous standalone thrillers, with several achieving the number 1 spot on The New York Times Best Seller list.
