Diane Schoemperlen

Diane Schoemperlen is a Canadian author recognized for her literary contributions. In 2007, she was honored with the Marian Engel Award, a Canadian literary prize presented by the Writers' Trust of Canada. This award specifically celebrated an established author's entire body of work.

The Marian Engel Award was established to acknowledge female Canadian authors. It was presented annually from 1986 until 2007. In 2008, this award, along with the Timothy Findley Award (which honored male authors), was merged to create the Writers' Trust Engel/Findley Award. This new award continues to recognize an established Canadian author's complete literary output, irrespective of gender, and includes a $25,000 monetary prize.
