Kevin Curran was an Emmy-winning comedy writer for The Simpsons and Married... with Children, also voicing Buck the Dog.

Kevin Patrick Curran (1957–2016) was an American writer celebrated for his contributions to television comedy, particularly for his work on shows like Late Night with David Letterman, Married... with Children, and The Simpsons. He began his career in humor publications, serving as an editor for the Harvard Lampoon and National Lampoon. His television writing earned him multiple accolades, including three Emmy Awards for his work on Late Night with David Letterman and three more for The Simpsons. Curran also lent his voice to the character Buck the Dog on Married... with Children for most of its run and held roles as a story editor and supervising producer on the show. He was a co-creator of The Good Life and Hardball and an executive producer on Unhappily Ever After. His episode "The Greatest Story Ever D'ohed" for The Simpsons garnered a Humanitas Prize nomination. Curran passed away from cancer at the age of 59.

This foundation led him to write for Late Night with David Letterman, a tenure that resulted in three Emmy Awards and the creation of Letterman's inaugural "Top Ten List." Curran later joined the writing staff of Married... with Children in 1989, where he not only penned numerous episodes but also provided the voice for the character Buck the Dog for a significant portion of the series. He also served in supervisory production roles on the show. In 2000, he moved to The Simpsons, becoming a co-executive producer and writing several episodes, earning him three additional Emmy Awards and a Humanitas Prize nomination for "The Greatest Story Ever D'ohed."

Other Television Ventures and Recognition

Beyond his well-known work on long-running sitcoms, Kevin Curran was instrumental in the creation and production of other television series. He served as co-creator and executive producer for the shows The Good Life and Hardball. Furthermore, he held the position of executive producer on the series Unhappily Ever After from 1997 to 1999, collaborating with Ron Leavitt. His writing talents were also recognized with a WGA Award for The Earth Day Special. Curran's professional relationships extended to his personal life; he was in a relationship with author Helen Fielding from 1999 to 2006, with whom he had two children. His significant contributions to comedy television were acknowledged throughout his career until his passing in 2016.
