Born in Scotland in 1960, Barnaby Rogerson is a British author, television presenter, and publisher. He pursued his studies in Medieval History at St Andrews University. His writing career began with travel guidebooks to various locations including Morocco, Tunisia, Cyprus, Istanbul, and Libya. Rogerson has since authored numerous books, many of which delve into the history and culture of the Muslim world, including a biography of the Prophet Muhammad and works exploring the Sunni-Shia schism. He also co-runs Eland Books, a publishing house dedicated to reprinting classic travel literature.

In addition to his books, Rogerson has contributed extensively as a freelance travel writer, with hundreds of articles and reviews published in prominent newspapers and magazines. He has also lent his expertise as a lecturer for tour companies. Rogerson's television work includes appearances on programs discussing the life of Muhammad and the Muslim Empire. He currently resides in London with his wife, Rose Baring, who is also his business partner.
