Born and raised in Texas, Amy Griffin's father was the CEO of Toot'n Totum, a regional chain of convenience and auto-service stores. She pursued higher education at the University of Virginia. In 2003, at the age of 27, she married John Griffin, who is known as the founder of the hedge fund Blue Ridge Capital.
