Aubrey Hampton was a biochemist, author, and founder of Aubrey Organics and the Gorilla Theatre.
Aubrey Hampton, born in Indiana in 1934, was an American biochemist and writer. He pursued his academic studies at Indiana University and earned a doctorate in biochemistry from New York University. In 1967, Hampton established Aubrey Organics, a company dedicated to hair and skin care products. Over his career, he developed more than 200 items using natural ingredients.
Beyond his work in cosmetics, Hampton was also involved in the arts. In 1990, he co-founded the Gorilla Theatre in Tampa, Florida, with Susan Hussey, whom he later married. Hampton contributed to the theatre by writing several plays, including "GBS and Company," a biographical piece on George Bernard Shaw. He also initiated the Young Dramatists' Project to support young playwrights by having their works professionally produced. Hampton passed away in May 2011.
