Antonino Buttitta was an anthropologist who played a role in the establishment of Sellerio Editore, an Italian publishing house founded in Palermo in 1969. He, along with his wife Elvira Giorgianni and writer Leonardo Sciascia, encouraged its founders, Elvira Giorgianni and Enzo Sellerio. The publishing house gained significant recognition in 1978 with the release of Leonardo Sciascia's "L'affaire Moro." Over the years, Sellerio Editore expanded its collections, with "La memoria" becoming a notable symbol of the company. The publisher has featured works by prominent Italian authors such as Gesualdo Bufalino and Andrea Camilleri. The editorial direction evolved, with Elvira Sellerio focusing on narrative and essays from 1983 onwards, while Enzo Sellerio concentrated on art and photography. The catalog grew to encompass over three thousand titles by 2020, including specialized series like "La città antica" and the Sicilian Library of History and Literature.
