Amir D. Aczel

Amir Dan Aczel, born in Israel in 1950, was an American lecturer and author specializing in mathematics, the history of science, and popular science writing. He pursued his higher education in the United States, earning degrees from the University of California, Berkeley, and a PhD in statistics from the University of Oregon. Aczel dedicated a significant part of his career to teaching mathematics and statistics at various universities across the US and internationally. He also authored two textbooks on statistics.

Beyond his academic work, Aczel gained recognition for his non-technical books that made complex scientific and mathematical topics accessible to a wider audience. Several of his books achieved bestseller status, with "Fermat's Last Theorem" being a notable example that was nominated for a Los Angeles Times Book Prize.
