Gibson also claimed to have donated significant portions of her income to various charities. However, investigations revealed these claims to be false. She admitted in 2015 to fabricating her cancer diagnoses. Legal action followed, resulting in a substantial fine for misleading consumers, a penalty that remains unpaid.
