Julia de Wolf Addison was an American writer and artist known for her crafts and literary works.
Julia de Wolf Gibbs, later known as Julia de Wolf Addison, was born in Boston in 1866. Her early education took place in England with a private tutor, after which she returned to Boston to study art in private institutions. She furthered her artistic training through travel and study in England and Italy. In 1889, she married clergyman Daniel Dulany Addison.
Following her marriage, she became recognized for her diverse artistic skills. Her craftwork encompassed ornamentation, mosaics, metalworking, and embroidery. She also specialized in heraldry and the illustration of vellum. Beyond her visual arts, Addison was a prolific writer, contributing multiple books, plays, songs, and Christmas carols to her body of work.
