Saskia Hall

Saskia Sassen, born in 1947, is a Dutch-American sociologist recognized for her significant contributions to the study of globalization, international migration, and urban development. She holds professorships at Columbia University and the London School of Economics. Sassen is credited with coining and popularizing the term "global city" in her influential 1991 book, "The Global City: New York, London, Tokyo."

Her academic career includes extensive study and teaching positions, with a background in philosophy, political science, sociology, and economics. Sassen's research delves into the impacts of economic restructuring, the movement of labor and capital, and the influence of technology on governance within urban environments.
