S. Brent Morris is an American author recognized for his writings on Freemasonry. He holds the prestigious rank of 33° Scottish Rite Mason and previously served as the editor of The Scottish Rite Journal until his retirement in 2021. His professional career includes significant roles in mathematics and computer security, such as leading the Cryptologic Mathematician Program at the National Security Agency and representing the U.S. in international computer security standards.

Morris also has an extensive academic background, having taught mathematics, computer science, and cryptanalysis at esteemed institutions like Duke University and Johns Hopkins University. His academic interests span areas such as computer networks, the mathematics of card shuffling, and recreational mathematics. His contributions to mathematics were recognized when he was selected as a speaker for the USA Science and Engineering Festival. As a Freemason, he achieved the distinction of being the first American elected as Worshipful Master of Quatuor Coronati Lodge, the world's oldest Masonic research lodge.

This lodge is recognized as the oldest Masonic research lodge globally and operates under the jurisdiction of the United Grand Lodge of England.
