Derek Paravicini, born in 1979, is an English savant pianist residing in London. He was born extremely prematurely at 25 weeks and suffered blindness due to oxygen therapy in neonatal care, which also impacted his brain development, leading to a severe learning disability and placement on the autism spectrum. Despite these challenges, Paravicini possesses absolute pitch and can play any music after hearing it once. His musical journey began at age two with a keyboard, and he soon received formal training. He made significant public appearances from a young age, including a concert at the Barbican Hall with the Royal Philharmonic Pops Orchestra at nine years old, and has been featured in documentaries and television programs.

Somerset Maugham and Thomas John Barnardo. His maternal lineage connects him to Mary Ann Parker Bowles, sister of Andrew Parker Bowles, and thus, by marriage, to Camilla Shand, now Queen Camilla. Following his parents' divorce, his care became a subject of legal proceedings. In a landmark decision in 2010, the UK's secret Court of Protection was opened to address his future welfare and financial management, appointing his family to oversee these aspects.
