Nancy Farmer, born in 1941, is an American author recognized for her contributions to children's and young adult literature, particularly in the science fiction genre. Her career began in the 1980s while she was living in Zimbabwe, where her early experiences and observations, including studying methods to control the tsetse fly, significantly shaped her writing.
