Monte Farber and Amy Zerner are a husband-and-wife team recognized for their extensive work in astrology and spirituality. Monte Farber was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1950. His early life was influenced by his father's career in the NYPD. During his youth, Farber faced personal challenges and explored a career in music, joining a progressive rock band. Amy Zerner, born in Teaneck, New Jersey, in 1951, came from a family of artists and developed her creative talents from a young age, working with natural materials and later designing clothing. Both artists were drawn to the counter-cultural art scene of the time. They met in 1974 during the production of a film and married in 1978. Around this time, both began developing an interest in astrology, with Farber writing columns and Zerner incorporating astrological imagery into her art.

In the mid-1980s, Farber and Zerner decided to merge their interests in astrology, writing, and art, leading to their first book and card set, Karma Cards, in 1988. This was followed by the highly successful The Enchanted Tarot in 1992, for which Zerner created the artwork over two years. Their subsequent publications include titles on relationships, lifestyle, and astrology-based cooking. Their work gained significant distribution through a deal with Barnes & Noble, which dedicated shelf space to their books. They were pioneers in selling tarot products on national television and developed tarot reading software. Their output includes over 50 books, card decks, divination sets, and meditation CDs, solidifying their reputation in the esoteric and spiritual publishing world.

Amy Zerner's artistic evolution led her to develop collage-based paintings on fabric, earning her a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship. This recognition allowed her to create larger-scale works, including pieces for public display. Her illustrations for The Enchanted Tarot were later transformed into tapestries. Zerner has exhibited her art in various galleries and institutions. Her interest in fashion design, stemming from her youth, led her to apply her artistic techniques to clothing. She created art coats and jewelry, commissioned by high-end retailers like Bergdorf Goodman and for celebrity clients, often incorporating metaphysical imagery into her designs.

In addition to their extensive publishing career, Monte Farber and Amy Zerner have engaged with various media platforms. They appeared on national television networks like QVC and HSN to promote their tarot products. Farber developed tarot reading software and participated in the Consumer Electronics Show. He also contributed as a psychic to a financial website. More recently, they hosted an online talk show, 'Ask the Oracles.' Their creative journey and partnership were slated to be the subject of a feature-length documentary film, announced in 2022, focusing on their careers and relationship, with production beginning in late 2022 and an anticipated release in late 2024.
