Martina Kaufmann

Barbara Rütting, born in 1927 and passing in 2020, was a prominent German figure who transitioned from a successful film career to become an author and dedicated activist. She initially gained recognition in German cinema during the 1950s and 1960s, earning an award for Best New Actress in 1953 and starring in notable films. Her acting roles became less frequent after the 1970s, prompting a shift in her professional focus.

Rütting then dedicated herself to writing, producing books for children and lifestyle guides. A committed vegetarian, she became a strong advocate for animal welfare and environmental causes. Her activism extended to politics, joining the Green Party in 1982 and serving in the Bavarian parliament. She also authored cookbooks, including a vegan cookbook published in 2013, reflecting her long-standing commitment to natural foods.
