Maharishi Mahesh Yogi is recognized as the founder of Maharishi International University (MIU), originally established in 1971 as Maharishi University of Management. The institution is built upon a "consciousness-based education" system, integrating the Transcendental Meditation (TM) technique. Maharishi International University has achieved accreditation up to the doctoral level from the Higher Learning Commission. The institution received "candidate for accreditation" status in 1976 and later became a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. In 1980, it secured full accreditation through the doctoral level. The campus also features dedicated meditation facilities, including the Golden Domes, built for group practice of TM and TM-Sidhi programs. Throughout its history, the university has experienced periods of significant enrollment growth, attracting students from numerous countries worldwide.
