Kami Garcia is an American writer born in 1972, recognized for her contributions to young adult fiction and graphic novels. She holds an MA in education and has experience as a teacher and reading specialist, formerly working in the Washington D.C. area before relocating to Los Angeles, California. Her background also includes work as a professional artist. Garcia is the co-author, alongside Margaret Stohl, of the popular Caster Chronicles book series, which began with 'Beautiful Creatures'. This series, set in a fictional Southern town, explores themes of witchcraft and magical creatures and has achieved international bestseller status, with the first book adapted into a film and a graphic novel.
