Lynn Lonidier was an American poet whose work explored themes of nature, sexuality, and myth, with an introduction to her work by Jerome Rothenberg.
Lynn Lonidier (1937-1993) was an American writer known primarily for her poetry. Throughout her career, she published five collections of poems, including titles like "Po Tree" (1967), "The Female Freeway" (1970), "A Lesbian Estate" (1977), and "Clitoris Lost: A Woman's Version of the Creation Myth" (1989). In addition to her poetry collections, Lonidier also released three broadsides. Her literary contributions continued posthumously, with a collection of her poems edited and published by Janine Canan.
Lonidier's work has been recognized and revisited in later publications. "The Rhyme of the Aged Mariness," featuring an introduction by Jerome Rothenberg and edited by Janine Canan, was published in 2001. More recently, "Fire-Rimmed Eden: Selected Poems by Lynn Lonidier," edited by Julie Enszer, was released in 2023. These later editions highlight the enduring interest in Lonidier's unique poetic voice and thematic explorations.
