Jennifer A. Nielsen, born July 10, 1971, is an American writer primarily recognized for her contributions to young adult fiction. She grew up in northern Utah and demonstrated an early aptitude for writing, completing her first manuscript at age 11. Nielsen began her professional writing career in 2010 with the publication of "Elliot and the Goblin War," the inaugural book in her Underworld Chronicles series. Since then, she has consistently published novels, establishing a notable presence in the literary world.

In 2013, she received the Whitney Award for Best Middle-Grade Novel for "The False Prince," the first installment of her Ascendance Trilogy.
