Hans Wilhelm

Hans Wilhelm, born in Bremen, Germany in 1945, is a prolific German-American author, illustrator, and artist. He has created and illustrated more than 200 books, primarily for children, which have been translated into over thirty languages and have received numerous international accolades. Many of his works have been adapted into animated television series. To date, over forty-two million copies of his books are in circulation worldwide. His artistic creations are held in the permanent collections of several prestigious institutions, including the Mazza Museum and the Kerlan Collection at the University of Minnesota. Wilhelm's artistic journey began after studying art and business, leading him to spend twelve years in South Africa, where he worked, painted, and participated in a satirical theater group. His writing career commenced during a two-year global expedition that included extended stays in Bali, Spain, and England.
