New Apostolic Reformation
In 1999, Pierce co-founded the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) and remains one of its leaders. The NAR is characterized as a neo-charismatic dominionist movement led by independent networks of apostles and prophets. Its stated objective is to establish a theocracy in the United States by implementing the Seven Mountain Mandate, which calls for Christians to exert control over key societal areas: family, religion, education, media, arts and entertainment, business, and government. Pierce co-authored "Releasing the Prophetic Destiny of a Nation" in 2005, detailing prophecies given during a tour of the US. Participants in the NAR perceive their activities as part of a spiritual conflict against demonic forces, anticipating divine intervention and victory.
Prophetic Claims and Criticism
Pierce is primarily known for his self-proclaimed prophecies and is an author and speaker on this topic. However, his prophetic claims have faced scrutiny. A doctoral dissertation by Yvie Ruth Baker in 2021 noted that Pierce allegedly used strategies to make verifying his prophecies difficult, such as providing unrecorded or private contexts for them. Baker's research, which traced some of these claims, indicated that prophecies attributed to Pierce were reportedly fabricated, altered in detail, or significantly different from later interpretations. Specific examples cited include claims of predicting the September 11 attacks, Hurricane Katrina, the 2016 election of Donald Trump, and the COVID-19 virus.
