Carole Mortimer

Born in rural England around 1960, Carole Mortimer is a highly popular British author who has penned over 150 romance novels since her debut in 1978. Initially working in a computer department after a brief stint in nursing, she began writing. Her first manuscript was rejected by Mills & Boon, but her second, "The Passionate Winter," was accepted and published, marking the beginning of her prolific career.

Mortimer became one of Mills & Boon's youngest and most successful authors. She achieved significant milestones, including celebrating her 100th book twenty years after her first publication and later venturing into historical romance with the Mills & Boon Historical series. Her career has been marked by numerous accolades, including recognition from Queen Elizabeth II for her service to literature in 2012 and a Pioneer of Romance Award from Romantic Times in the US in 2014. In 2015, she launched her independent "Alpha" series and published her 200th book, "Shadow Alpha," receiving the RWA Nora Roberts Lifetime Achievement Award the same year. Mortimer is married and has six children.
