Carl Mikael Lybeck was a Finland-Swedish author and translator known for his poetry and children's books.

Carl Mikael Lybeck, born August 3, 1929, and passing on November 11, 2020, was a Finnish-Swedish writer and translator. He spent his life working in Finland and later in Sweden. Lybeck's parents were artist Nils Lybeck and ceramist Marita Hahl. After completing his education, he embarked on a varied career path. He worked as a journalist for several Finnish newspapers, including Hufvudstadsbladet and Nya Pressen, and also held positions as a salesman for Michelin. Additionally, his professional life included roles as a freelance journalist, construction worker, farmer, and fisherman.

Throughout his life, Lybeck lived in various locations across Norway, Denmark, and Sweden, spending significant periods in Stockholm and Lofoten, Norway, and later in Uddevalla and Stockholm, Sweden. He was married to Norwegian teacher Berthe Marie Ruud, with whom he had two daughters. Lybeck was the grandson of Mikael Lybeck, a figure from an earlier generation.

Lybeck's literary output encompassed poetry collections such as 'I tornet' (1951) and 'Dikter från Lofoten' (1961), as well as numerous children's books, most notably the 'Latte Igelkott' series, which saw translations into multiple languages including German, Dutch, and Thai. He also contributed as a translator, rendering works like Christian Morgenstern's 'Det upplysta månlammet' into Swedish. His contributions were recognized with awards such as the Deutscher Jugendliteraturpreis in 1959 and the Längmanska kulturfondens Finlandprize in 1966.
