Celia S. Friedman, who writes under the name C. S. Friedman, was born on January 12, 1957. She is an American author specializing in speculative fiction. Before beginning her writing career, Friedman worked as a costume designer. She transitioned to writing full-time in 1996, having published her first works in 1986. As of 2022, her bibliography includes fourteen novels, numerous short stories, and a sourcebook for the Vampire: The Masquerade role-playing game. Her 2021 collection, The Dreaming Kind, gathered several of her short stories. Friedman's work has received recognition, including a nomination for the John W.
