Douglas Stuart, born in Glasgow in 1976, is a Scottish-American writer and former fashion designer. After establishing a successful two-decade career in fashion design in New York City, Stuart began writing. His first novel, 'Shuggie Bain', which draws inspiration from his own upbringing, his mother's struggles with alcoholism, and their relationship, faced numerous rejections before being awarded the 2020 Booker Prize.
