Bhawani Mishra

Bhawani Prasad Mishra, born in 1913 in British India, was a prolific Indian poet and author. He gained significant recognition for his poetry, which was characterized by its profound emotional depth conveyed through simple language, making it accessible to a wide audience. Mishra was also a follower of Mahatma Gandhi, deeply concerned about the impact of colonization on India and critical of the English education system, which he viewed as detrimental. He dedicated a substantial portion of his work, publishing around 500 poems, to promoting Gandhian principles. He passed away in 1985.

His literary contributions spanned various genres including poetry, essays, memoirs, children's literature, and translations. However, his poetic works remain his most celebrated. He received the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1972 for his collection 'Buni Hui Rassi'.
