Bernadette Stanis, born Bernadette Stanislaus on December 22, 1953, is an American actress and author. She gained widespread recognition for portraying Thelma Evans on the popular CBS sitcom "Good Times," which aired from 1974 to 1979. Stanis, who grew up in Brooklyn, New York, and attended the Juilliard School, also participated in beauty pageants in her youth, becoming Miss Brooklyn.

Beyond her acting career, which includes appearances on shows like "The Cosby Show" and "What's Happening Now!!," Stanis has authored four books. These works include "Situations 101: Relationships, The Good, The Bad & The Ugly," "For Men Only," "Situations 101: Finances," and "The Last Night." Her books delve into interpersonal dynamics and financial matters. Stanis has been married four times and is a mother of two daughters. She currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia.
