Anne Marie Legras

Anny Duperey, born Annie Legras on June 28, 1947, is a prominent French actress, photographer, and author with a career spanning nearly six decades. She has amassed over eighty cinema and television credits, participated in around thirty theatre productions, and published 15 books. Her acting career has been recognized with multiple awards and nominations, including five Molière Award nominations for Best Actress and two 7 d'Or awards. Duperey is widely known for her role as Catherine Beaumont in the popular French television series "Une famille formidable," which ran for 15 seasons. She has also appeared in notable films by directors such as Jean-Luc Godard and Alain Resnais.

Beyond her acting, Duperey is a successful author, with several bestselling books to her name. Her literary works include "L'admiroir" (1976), "Le Nez de Mazarin" (1986), and "Les chats de hasard" (1999), among others. Born Annie Legras in Normandy, France, Duperey experienced a profound loss at the age of eight when both her parents, photographers Lucien and Ginette Legras, died in a carbon monoxide poisoning incident. This tragedy led to her being raised by her paternal grandmother. Her early artistic inclinations were nurtured through local theatre conservatory courses, followed by studies with René Simon in Paris. Duperey began her career as a model before making her stage debut in 1965 and her film debut in Jean-Luc Godard's "Two or Three Things I Know About Her" in 1967.

She has appeared in French horror films like "Spirits of the Dead" and "The Blood Rose," and portrayed Arlette in Alain Resnais' 1974 film "Stavisky."
