She later obtained a master's degree in literature from Kent State University. Her professional journey began with teaching in the Virgin Islands and at Kent State before she relocated to Africa.

S.T. has published five volumes of poetry, with her first appearing in 1974. She was instrumental in founding the Liberian Association of Writers. Her career has also included international invitations to speak at poetry festivals in Colombia and Kenya, and her work has been featured in various literary journals and anthologies. After living in Liberia and later London, she settled in Switzerland with her family. She has also worked as a poetry editor and received the Marguerite Cobb McKay Prize in 2009.

Althea S.T.'s writing career commenced with the publication of her first poetry collection in 1974. She transitioned to a teaching role at the University of Liberia, contributing to the literary landscape there. Alongside her writing, she co-founded the Liberian Association of Writers in 1984. Her poetry has explored themes evident in titles like "The Silent Dancing Spirit" and "Beyond Dream: The Ritual Dancer." She has been recognized with awards, including the Marguerite Cobb McKay Prize in 2009, and has participated as a featured speaker at significant international poetry festivals in Medellín, Colombia, and Kisii, Kenya, showcasing her global literary reach.

Following her time in Liberia, Althea S.T. and her family moved to London and subsequently to Switzerland, where she has made her home.
