Laozi (; Chinese: 老子; pinyin: Lǎozǐ), also romanized as Lao Tzu, was a legendary Chinese philosopher and sage traditionally credited with writing the Tao Te Ching (Pinyin: Dào Dé Jīng), one of the foundational texts of Taoism.
