A. T. Mann

Alden Taylor Mann, born in 1943, is an American astrologer, writer, designer, and artist whose work spans astrology, sacred architecture, human sexuality, and gardens. After graduating from Cornell University's College of Architecture in 1966, he practiced as an architect in New York City and Rome, receiving an award for public housing design. Mann later shifted his focus to astrology, developing a system he terms 'Life Time Astrology,' based on logarithmic time scales influenced by G. I. Gurdjieff and P. D. Ouspensky. He lived in England and Copenhagen, teaching astrology and co-founding Phenomenon Publications. Mann has authored numerous books on astrology, tarot, and sacred themes, often illustrating them himself. His artistic contributions include mandala paintings featured in design halls of fame. He continues to write and work in Ithaca, New York, contributing to online astrological resources.

A. T. Mann's career began in architecture, earning a degree from Cornell University's College of Architecture in 1966. He subsequently worked for prominent architectural firms including Gruzen & Partners, Davis Brody Associates, and Robert A. M. Stern in New York City. He also spent time with The Architects' Collaborative (TAC) European office in Rome. In 1970, Mann, alongside Stuart Cohen, was recognized with a Progressive Architecture Magazine Design Awards Citation for their work on "Low Income Public Housing for Queens, New York."

Mann is widely recognized for his extensive contributions to astrology. He developed a unique approach known as 'Life Time Astrology,' which applies a logarithmic time scale concept derived from the teachings of G. I. Gurdjieff, P. D. Ouspensky, and Rodney Collin. Between 1973 and 1999, he resided in England and Denmark, where he was an active teacher at astrological associations and schools in London and Copenhagen. Mann is a prolific author, often designing and illustrating his own books. He co-founded Phenomenon Publications in London, producing an annual calendar series for eight years. His notable astrological works include 'The Round Art: The Astrology of Time and Space,' 'Life Time Astrology,' 'The Divine Plot: Astrology and Reincarnation,' and 'A New Vision of Astrology.'

Beyond astrology, Mann has explored themes of sacred architecture, human sexuality, and gardens, producing significant written and artistic works. He designed and illustrated 'The Mandala Astrological Tarot' and 'Elements of the Tarot.' In collaboration with Jane Lyle, he authored 'Sacred Sexuality' and 'Sacred Architecture.' Mann's mandala paintings have been recognized in 'Masters of the 20th Century: The ICOGRADA Design Hall of Fame.' His more recent publications include 'The Sacred Language of Trees' and 'Sacred Landscapes.'
