A. Lee Martinez

A. Lee Martinez, born January 12, 1973, is an American writer specializing in fantasy and science fiction. He has been actively writing since 1991 and is a long-standing member of the DFW Writers' Workshop, which he joined in 1995. Martinez resides in Terrell, Texas. His published works include eleven fantasy novels, many of which are standalone stories set in unique universes. His debut novel, Gil's All Fright Diner (2005), garnered significant attention, receiving an Alex Award for its appeal to young adults and a featured review in Publishers Weekly. Several of his other books have also been recognized with featured reviews, including The Automatic Detective. His novels have been translated into five languages, indicating a broad international readership. Beyond novels, Martinez has also penned short stories, with "Cranky Dead" being a notable three-part story set in the same locale as Gil's All Fright Diner. One of his series, Constance Verity, is slated for a feature film adaptation.
