Born in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, on May 11, 1999, Sabrina Carpenter was homeschooled and relocated to Los Angeles at age 13. Her musical journey began at six years old with vocal studies. Around the age of ten, she started sharing singing videos on YouTube, featuring songs by artists like Christina Aguilera and Adele. Her father supported her musical aspirations by building a recording studio for her. Carpenter's early exposure to performance included participating in an online singing competition run by Miley Cyrus, where she secured third place in 2010.

Carpenter's professional acting career commenced with a guest role on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" in 2011. Concurrently, she performed in China. She also had a recurring part in the Fox sitcom "The Goodwin Games" and appeared as young Merrin Williams in the film "Horns." Her involvement with Disney expanded with a recurring role as Princess Vivian in "Sofia the First" and recording the theme song for "Girl Meets World," a Disney Channel spin-off where she starred as Maya Hart from 2014 to 2017.
