Thematic Cartography and Visualization

Appropriate for either a one- or two-semester undergraduate course in thematic cartography, this work aims to bridge the evolution in cartography by presenting both traditional methods and recently-developed cartographic techniques. The book provides a compendium of methods for symbolizing and visualizing spatial data, from the traditional methods that provide a communication model and computer-based techniques that provide a means of data visualization. It provides the traditional univariate mapping methods (choropleth, proportional symbol, isarithmic and dot).
