Black Catholicism

The term "Black Catholicism" is a modern descriptor, emerging from the 20th century to articulate a specific identity within the broader Catholic Church. It is not derived from ancient linguistic roots but rather from socio-cultural and historical contexts of African Americans claiming their faith.

Black Catholicism or African-American Catholicism comprises the African-American people, beliefs, and practices in the Catholic Church.
